Terms of Service

These terms are maintained by Oveus Career Accelerator and describe the rules for using Oveus. They are written in plain language for students, families, employers, and school staff. They are not legal advice, and they may be replaced with counsel-reviewed wording.

Last updated: August 2026

1.Acceptance and eligibility

By creating an account or using Oveus, you agree to these terms. Student accounts are intended for high school students participating through their school. Staff accounts (career coach, principal, school administrator, student support) require approval by an Oveus administrator or an authorized school leader. Employer accounts require review before postings become visible.

If you are under 18, you use Oveus through your school's career program. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time using the request form.

2.What Oveus is

Oveus is a career exploration and resource tool. It lets students browse opportunities, save careers and colleges, complete interactive career activities, build a profile and resume, and track applications. It lets approved employers post opportunities and review applicants, and it lets approved school staff support students at their assigned schools.

3.Your account

  • Keep your password private and do not share your account with anyone.
  • Provide accurate information, including your school, grade level, and contact email.
  • Tell us right away if you believe someone else has used your account.
  • You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

4.Student conduct

  • Represent yourself honestly in your profile, resume, and applications.
  • Do not post another person's private information.
  • Do not harass, threaten, or impersonate other students, staff, or employers.
  • Do not upload malicious files or attempt to access other users' data.

5.Employer and partner rules

Organizations that post on Oveus must follow these rules:

  • Postings must be real, accurate, currently available, and lawful.
  • Never charge students a fee to apply, interview, train, or be placed.
  • No discriminatory postings or screening based on protected characteristics.
  • Never request sensitive documents or data through Oveus — no Social Security numbers, bank or payment details, government ID images, medical records, or immigration documents.
  • Use applicant information only to evaluate that student for that opportunity.
  • Do not export, resell, share, or market to student information.
  • Comply with youth employment, work-permit, and labor laws that apply to student workers.

Postings and accounts that violate these rules may be removed or suspended without notice.

6.School staff responsibilities

Staff accounts are scoped to approved schools. Staff may view student information only for students at those schools and only to provide career and academic support. Staff must not use Oveus data for purposes unrelated to student support, and administrative actions are recorded in an audit log.

7.Prohibited conduct

  • Scraping, bulk downloading, or automated collection of platform data.
  • Probing, scanning, or attempting to bypass access controls or rate limits.
  • Reverse engineering, copying, or reselling any part of the platform.
  • Uploading malware or attempting to disrupt the service.
  • Using Oveus to send unsolicited marketing.

Good-faith security research is welcome — please follow the guidance on the Trust Center.

8.Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload — your profile, resume, reflections, goals, and application materials. You grant Oveus Career Accelerator a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit that content inside Oveus so the platform can work as described: showing your profile to your school's approved staff, and showing limited application information to an employer after you apply to that employer's opportunity.

We do not sell your content, use it for advertising, or license it to third parties for their own purposes. Schools and coaches may see aggregate, de-identified reporting about participation.

9.Third-party content and links

Opportunity listings, college data, apprenticeship listings, and wage data come from employers, schools, and public sources such as the Federal College Scorecard and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Oveus does not control third-party sites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices. Always verify details directly with the employer or program before applying or paying anything.

10.No guarantee of outcomes

Oveus provides information and tools. It does not guarantee employment, internships, apprenticeships, admission, scholarships, funding, wages, or any specific result. Career and wage estimates are projections based on public data and your inputs, not promises.

11.Intellectual property

The Oveus platform, its name, logo, design, written content, interactive experiences, and software are owned by Oveus Career Accelerator or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the platform without written permission.

12.Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, that poses a risk to students, or that is used unlawfully. You may stop using Oveus at any time and request deletion of your account through the request form. Some records may be retained where a school or law requires it.

13.Disclaimers

Oveus is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that third-party listings are accurate.

14.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oveus Career Accelerator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost opportunities, lost wages, or lost data arising from your use of Oveus. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the platform, which for students and schools is typically zero.

15.Indemnity

If you are an employer, partner, or organization using Oveus, you agree to indemnify and hold Oveus Career Accelerator harmless from claims arising out of your postings, your hiring practices, or your use of student information obtained through the platform.

16.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Maryland, unless a school district agreement provides otherwise.

17.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app. Continuing to use Oveus after an update means you accept the revised terms.

18.Contact

Questions about these terms, a posting, or an account? Use the request form and your message is routed to Oveus staff. Please do not include passwords or sensitive documents.
